How This Guy Reversed Aging By 5+ Years

And what we learned from his $2M per year regiment

WAY TO GLO!

Bryan Johnson, the silicon valley centi-millionaire and founder of the payment processing company, Braintree, is determined to become 18 again. He spends $2 million a year on his anti-aging regimen, Project Blueprint, which employs a team of 30 doctors and research professionals to bio-hack his body into a youthful state.

At age 45, Johnson can now boast a heart of a 37-year-old, the skin of a 28-year-old and the lung capacity and fitness of an 18-year-old—an incredulous feat, despite the hefty price tag.

So, out of curiosity, I looked into his routine.

And it’s absolutely bonkers!

From injecting a plasma made up of his own blood cells to sitting on top of an electromagnetic machine for 30 minutes at a time to strengthen his pelvic floor, Bryan is taking his anti-aging journey to an unsustainable extreme. However, there may be certain things worth learning from him. While I don't necessarily want to become 18 again, I do aspire to age just a little bit slower and smoother. So, here are the main takeaways from his approach.

  • Bryan Follows A Strict Plant-based Diet

    • 1977 calorie diet, ~24% caloric restriction per day

    • Vegan, no sugar, no alcohol, no processed food

    • 100+ pills of supplements and medicine including: lycopene, metformin, turmeric, black pepper & ginger root, zinc, and a microdose of lithium.

    • Food cooked via low temperature, high humidity, high acidity methods to avoid formation of AGEs and AGLs. (We talked about AGEs in my second newsletter A Food, A Skin Terminator)

  • Bryan Works Out Every Single Day

    • Hourlong workout

    • 25 different exercises including pullups, leg raises, obliques, etc.

    • 3x / week HIIT

  • Bryan Make Sure He Gets Quality Sleep Every Night

    • Goes to bed at the same time every night

    • Wears blue light-blocking glasses for 2 hours prior to sleep

    • Temperature controlled mattress

    • 1HR downtime prior to bedtime

    • Blackout room

  • Bryan Takes Care Of His Skin, And Avoids The Sun

    • Daily Routine:

      - Face wash

      - Vit C, E, ferulic, B3, azelaic etc

      - Other actives cream (I am guessing to address his specific concerns)

      - Cerave AM / PM / Body Creams

      - Tretinoin 0.1%

      - UVA/B Mineral Sunscreen + Environmental filters

    • Weekly Routine:

      - Total body multi-wavelength IPL

      - Total body laser (532nm + 1064nm) — looks like this in the green and infrared range. We talk about light therapy in What Is Red Light Therapy? last week.

      - Micro-pulsed laser

      - Total Body LED (see this in last week’s newsletter)

  • Bryan Uses Some Little Extra Help For His Baldness

    • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy for hair loss

    • Custom hair formulation (Minoxidil 5% + some other stuff)

    • Microneedling

    • Dutasteride injections (1x/month)

    • Laser Cap

  • Bryan Has So Far Refrained From The Health Fads On The Internet

    • Bryan has rejected many of the internet’s favorite health fads, including resveratrol, ice baths and high doses of testosterone

So — how determined are you to shave some years off your biological age?

Needless to say, please take all of the above with a grain of salt! Bryan definitely takes his anti-aging process to the utmost extreme. And it’s quite obvious that his routine is designed specifically for his body (e.g., PRP and laser cap treatment for baldness, electromagnetic pelvic floor treatments for you-know-what).

Bryan’s extreme anti-aging diet may cost $2M per year, but I am sharing some of his recipes here, so you can replicate his anti-aging diet for free! Enjoy these easy to make home recipes to create on your own.

GREEN GIANT: The Drink That Bryan Takes Upon Awakening

In a blender, mix the following ingredients:

  • 8 oz of water

  • Spermidine, 2 Tbsp chlorella powder, yielding 13.5mg spermidine

  • Amino Complex 7.6 g

  • Creatine 2.5 g

  • Collagen Peptides 20 g

  • Cocoa Flavanols 500 mg

  • Ceylon Cinnamon 1 tsp

SUPER VEGGIE: Bryan’s Go-To Lunch & Dinner

  • Black lentils, 300 grams (cooked)

  • Broccoli (head+stalk), 250 grams

  • Cauliflower. 150 grams

  • Shiitake or Maitake Mushrooms, 50 grams

  • Garlic, 1 clove

  • Ginger Root, 3 grams

  • Lime, 1

  • Cumin, 1 Tbsp

  • Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 Tbsp

  • Hemp Seeds, 1 Tbsp

  • Drizzle 1 Tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Preparation Instructions:

Place broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms (maitake or shiitake), ginger and garlic in boiling water. Boil until tender (7-9 min). Steaming is also acceptable.

In a large bowl, mix with 1 Tbsp of dried cumin, 1 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 1 fresh Lime, cooked black lentils. You can make this into a soup by mixing all the ingredients (except the black lentils) in a blender.

Top with hemp seeds.

You can also season with NuSalt (potassium chloride).
