WAY TO GLO!
Women of the past know a few things about beauty.

Think about it: women from the last century did not have nearly as many makeup, skincare products, or surgical procedures readily available as women do today.
Yet, some of our most iconic and timeless beauties—such as Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Vivien Leigh, and Marilyn Monroe—are still admired and imitated for their beauty and style. These women were icons of their time, and their allure continues to captivate us decades later.
So, I'm compelled to dig up the beauty secrets of our grandmothers' era, a time when beauty wasn't achieved through heavy contouring or perfected with photo and video editing.
The Most Important Element: Moisturization
One of the fundamental beauty secrets from our grandmothers is the importance of moisturization. They knew that hydrated skin is healthy skin. Instead of fancy creams, they often used natural ingredients like olive oil, coconut oil, or shea butter to keep their skin soft and supple. These oils are still widely used today for their nourishing properties.

Sleeping on Your Back
Yes, you heard that right. Sleeping on your back like how you’d sleep in a coffin. Grandma's generation knew that the way you sleep can affect your skin. Sleeping on your back helps prevent the formation of sleep lines and wrinkles, as your face isn't pressed into the pillow. This sleeping position also promotes better neck and spine alignment.
However, if you find it challenging to remain in one position throughout the night, consider investing in a silk or satin pillowcase to provide a gentler surface for your face.
Avoid Straws
Surprisingly, using straws can contribute to premature wrinkles around the mouth. Our grandmothers preferred sipping beverages from cups and glasses to minimize repetitive lip movements that can cause fine lines. It's a small change with potentially significant results for your skin.
"Vaseline! Vaseline! Vaseline!”
Vaseline, a staple in grandma's beauty arsenal, remains a versatile and budget-friendly product. It's excellent for sealing in moisture, especially on dry patches like elbows and knees. Some even swear by it as a lip balm or eyelash conditioner. Its simple formulation makes it a timeless beauty hack.

Exfoliate
Exfoliation was another key aspect of grandma's skincare routine. They often used homemade scrubs with ingredients like sugar, coffee grounds, or oatmeal to gently remove dead skin cells and reveal a fresh, glowing complexion. Regular exfoliation can improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of blemishes, and enhance the absorption of other skincare products.
Dermaplaning
Grandma's generation had their version of dermaplaning, using a sharp blade to remove facial hair and dead skin. While it's essential to exercise caution when attempting this at home, it can provide smoother skin and better product absorption when done correctly.

Dove Original Beauty Bar
The Dove Original Beauty Bar has been a trusted cleanser for generations. Its mild formula is gentle on the skin, and it's still recommended today for those with sensitive or dry skin. Grandma's choice of this classic soap was a testament to its effectiveness. And the smell of it brings me right back to grandma’s bathroom.
Pond’s Cold Cream
Pond's Cold Cream is a true classic that our grandmothers relied on for makeup removal and deep cleansing. Its creamy texture melts away makeup and dirt, leaving the skin soft and hydrated. Even in today's era of advanced skincare, many still turn to this timeless product.
Beauty Rest
"Beauty rest" is not just a saying; it's a crucial element of maintaining youthful skin. Our grandmothers understood the power of a good night's sleep in the rejuvenation and repair of skin cells. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night to wake up with a refreshed and glowing complexion.

You Are What You Eat
Grandma's generation understood the significance of nutrition in maintaining beautiful skin. They emphasized the consumption of nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. These foods are packed with vitamins and antioxidants that support healthy skin from the inside out. Additionally, staying hydrated with plenty of water was a crucial part of their beauty routine.
Like this stuff? It would mean the world to me if you can share with your friends and family! Your support is the best kind of motivation 😃 😃 😃 😃
GLO ABOVE & BEYOND
According to sources within the beauty industry, Dr. Barbara Sturm's skincare brand is currently exploring deal options. The brand, established by Dr. Barbara Sturm herself, has engaged the services of investment bank RBC to carefully assess its options for a deal. It is estimated that the brand achieves annual sales of approximately 70 million euros.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Oprah Winfrey had made an undisclosed investment in the skincare brand, following her introduction to the products by fashion designer Stella McCartney.
Dr. Barbara Sturm, who holds expertise as an aesthetics doctor with a background in sports medicine, introduced the Dr. Barbara Sturm Molecular Cosmetics collection on Net-a-porter in 2014. In subsequent years, she also launched the Darker Skin Tones by Dr. Barbara Sturm line in collaboration with actress Angela Bassett.
These product lines are now available at major retailers such as Sephora, Nordstrom, and Amazon, with bestsellers including the Enzyme Cleanser priced at $75, the Hyaluronic Serum at $110, and the Face Cream at $75.
The brand has recently expanded its presence by opening two new spa locations in New York, with one situated on Madison Avenue uptown and the other in SoHo downtown. These spas offer a range of treatments, including the Super Anti-aging Facial, Exoso-metic Growth Factor Facial, and the Non-surgical Facelift Facial.
Reflecting on Oprah's investment, Dr. Sturm expressed her gratitude, stating, "Oprah's endorsement of our products and her involvement in our business is a significant honor and a testament to our brand's philosophy of anti-inflammatory, skin barrier-strengthening care. It also provides us with the opportunity to reach a broader audience and offer science-backed skin education to everyone."
