ICYMI

WAY TO GLO!

Bonjour, it seems everyone is flocking to Paris this summer.

While I won't have the pleasure of visiting soon, I can't help but envision idyllic picnics by the Seine and lazy naps in Jardin de Luxembourg, accompanied by the melodies of Edith Piaf's "Sous le Ciel de Paris."

And if you happen to be in France this summer, French pharmacies are a must-visit for skincare enthusiasts. Unlike most US skincare sold in department stores, French pharmacy skincare products are considered derma-cosmetics and held to a higher standard in terms of scientific approach and efficacy claims. Renowned French skincare brands like CeraVe, Nuxe, La Roche-Posay, Avene, and Vichy were all born with pharmaceutical origins, often formulated by pharmacists themselves decades ago.

As a result, French pharmacy skincare truly epitomizes derma-cosmetics: safe, effective, backed by research, professionally formulated, gentle, and affordable.

Without further delay, let me share my top picks from my favorite brands found at French pharmacies.

Also, at the risk of overwhelming you with too many options, I am strictly capping my recommendations to 1-3 products per brand.

NUXE

A brand that brings together nature and innovation to create some seriously swoon-worthy formulas. Their philosophy revolves around using high-quality botanical ingredients that are sourced sustainably.

From this brand, check out: Huile Prodigieuse (the No.1 dry oil in France), Reve De Miel Face Cleanser (one of the best cleanser x makeup remover I have used), Reve De Miel Lip Balm

Filorga

A brand that seamlessly blends the worlds of cosmetics and aesthetics. With a strong foundation in medical expertise, Filorac brings science-backed solutions to the forefront of their product lineup.

I wouldn’t miss: Meso-mask (adored by Lady Gaga), NCEF-shot (dubbed the alternative to Botox)

Darphin

Founded in 1958, this brand is known for its use of botanical ingredients and its focus on sensitive skin. Darphin’s products are formulated with active ingredients, and they are designed to deliver visible results.

A-Derma

A-derma is a trusted skincare brand that stands out for its focus on natural ingredients, dermatological expertise, and sensitivity to delicate skin types. Their nourishing and protective formulations are developed in collaboration with dermatologists, making them effective and safe for various skin concerns.

Topicreme

Topiderm is a reputable skincare brand known for its effective formulations and dedication to addressing specific skin concerns. With a focus on dermatological expertise, Topiderm offers targeted solutions for various skin conditions. Their products are trusted by consumers seeking reliable and quality skincare options.

Best-selling product: Ultra-moisturizing body milk

Melvita

Melvita’s popularity stems from its dedication to organic ingredients, efficacy-driven formulations, eco-conscious practices, French heritage, and ethical values. These qualities have made Melvita a beloved brand among skincare enthusiasts who prioritize natural, effective, and socially responsible beauty products.

The things I love from this brand are: Eau Florale de Rose Ancienne (Apparently every French girl carries one in her purse, but it really is such a refreshing and clean / organic product), Argan Oil (great for fine lines around the eyes)

Klorane

Among many reasons for Klorane's popularity is their commitment to gentle and safe formulas. They prioritize ingredients that are well-tolerated by the scalp and hair, making their products suitable for a wide range of individuals, including those with sensitive scalps or delicate hair. Klorane's gentle approach to hair care has earned them a loyal customer base who appreciate the brand's focus on scalp and hair health.

Best product: Serum Antichute (great for thinning hair, my mom has repeatedly requested me to repurchase 😃)

LIERAC

Lierac combines the best of nature and science in their skincare formulations. The brand focuses on research and innovation, employing cutting-edge technologies and ingredients to develop effective and advanced skincare solutions. They are also the leading expertise in Phyto-Cosmetology, which involves harnessing the beneficial properties of plants for skincare. They integrate plant extracts, botanicals, and natural ingredients into their products to provide a holistic approach to skincare.

From its shelves, I would personally pick: Hydragenist Moisturizing Cream, Phytolastil (amazing oil for correcting stretch marks)

Worthy Mentions

Lastly…

If you are in Paris, I would recommend checking out CityPharma, located at 26 Rue du Four. It is highly recommended by locals for its highly discounted pricing as well as product variety.

Of course, always bring a passport so you can benefit from the 13% VAT refund at check-out.
